The anticipation over the upcoming release of Speed Racer has been growing ever since the first trailer appeared in theaters. The Wachowski brothers re-imagining of the 1960’s classic is filled with eye-popping visuals that have thrilled those seeing the previews.
Created entirely on computers, the world of Speed Racer and Racer X is a neon blur as the Mach 5 zooms through twisting, looping tracks. Redefining the racing movie as their Matrix trilogy redefined the action movie, the Wachowski brothers have relied upon the latest in cinematic wizardry to bring their vision to life.
Now Topps has joined the pre-release buzz with an online race game at www.candytracks.com. Speed-wannabes can sign up and race alongside the movies hero and villain for prizes and to unlock other cars. As they boost past Racer X and the Mach 5 jumps from hills, the game wets the appetite of fans old and new for the May 9th release with its high-visual style and rollercoaster-inspired design.
Speed Racer, which kicks off the summer movie season, stars Emile Hirsh as Speed Racer; Christina Ricci as Trixie; Matthew Fox as Racer X. It also features Susan Sarandon, Scott Porter and John Goodman. The Warner Bros release is scheduled to debut May 9th.
