As the world becomes increasingly mobile, the next stage of social networking sites have jumped from the PC to the CP; aka the cell phone.
The next generation of ego-stroking personal pages now sit in the palm of your hand. Providers such as MocoSpace, ItsMy, and BluePulse are wooing users with the idea of accessing your friends while on the go. Since these are no longer tied to the cell phone company or provided as preinstalled software, friends on different providers can all have a page on the same social network. Thus they can trade pictures, ringtones, etc.
Any Internet accessible phone can point their browser to these sites and begin networking. They basically work the same as MySpace or Facebook. You create a profile page, customize it, blog about your life, and add friends. Members can post pictures and video taken on their cell phone, IM other members and participate in chatrooms.
In this new century of instant information and constant contact, mobile networks allow heavy users to keep their friends updated of their every move and thought. Hoping your friends will forget about that video of you doing the Macarena the night before? Too late! They’ll be able to blog about concerts, parties and clubs while still there, rather than relying on foggy, morning-after memories.
