Muley Cyrus is continuing to top the headlines as photos of the Disney channel star are released. The 15-year old Cyrus posed for celebrity photographer Annie Lebowitz for a spread in Vanity Fair magazine. The photos have caused a stir as some have protested the provocative nature of the shots, including one of an apparently topless Miley clutching a blanket to cover her breasts.
Other recent photos have hit the internet making people wonder if she is going too far, heading down the same road as other teen stars such as Britney Spears and Lindsey Lohan. Controversy over the authenticity of these photos have swirled since they first appeared.
For their part, the Cyrus camp released this statement through the star publicist, “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be ‘artistic’ and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”
She also states that during the Vanity Fair shoot her parents and/or minder were present at all times. At the time she is quoted as saying, “I think it’s really artsy .It wasn’t in a skanky way. Annie took, like, a beautiful shot, and I thought that was really cool. That’s what she wanted me to do, and you can’t say no to Annie.”
Whether this will alienate her legions of loyal fans or will push her career into a more mature direction only time and the buying public will tell.
