CBS has announced that is has purchased Ragtag Productions online, low-budget series “We Need Girlfriend”  The YouTube hit is the latest internet show to make the leap from the web to the networks.

The series revolves around three friends sharing a small apartment in Queens NY and their attempts to grasp the mysteries of girls and relationships.  Based on the lives of the shows producers Steven Tsapelas, Angel Acevedo and Brian Amyot, the three characters in the show have found themselves post-college, in NYC and newly-dumped by their college girlfriends.  They attempt to navigate the dating life in New York and obtain that elusive goal; a girlfriend.

In one episode Tom (Patrick Cohen) is awakened by Rod (Evan Bass) and Henry (Seth Kirschner) and told that his ex-girlfriend has changed her Myspace status to “in a relationship”.  The guys try to get their revenge by pimping Tom’s page with pictures of Tom posing with random girls.

Each episode is both hilarious and cring-inducing as the guys try various schemes all of which the viewers know are doomed to fail.

The CBS series is set to be fully developed by “Sex and the City” creator Darren Star with scripts to be written by shows Ragtag producers.
